June, July and August were absolutely great!

June 18th saw us at Beth Shalom at Parkside in Richmond, with a very nice and active resident audience. On the 22nd we did Riverview on the Appomattox Health Care and Rehab in Hopewell, and this was the first time Cathy couldn’t go with me, so my friend, Ralph, filled in for her. Then on the 28th we did Petersburg Health Center; a small group, but it looked to me like everyone had a good time.

Then on the 29th we went to Beth Shalom at The Gardens in Richmond, and the residents there were another fun group. One of them even got up with Kristen (the activities director) and danced! Was supposed to go back to Beth Shalom at Parkside the 29th, but Covid got in the way and had to be rescheduled until August 27th.

The two gigs at Topside in July were an absolute blast; got to play a lot of songs, and even had a load of requests as the evenings wore on. Since the manager’s name is Brandy, and she said that no one ever plays that song for her, I learned the song and played it for her on my second night. Nice song that I’ll continue to play in the future.

On July 4th I was asked to play at the American Legion Post 284 holiday party, and that went well too. The next day, July 5th, saw a return to one of my favorite assisted living facilities, Brighter Living in Hopewell, and once again the residents joined in and sang just about all the songs with me.

July 13th saw us at Henrico Health and Rehab, and once again a lively, singing group. Then on the 20th we went to Elizabeth Adam Crump Health and Rehab in Glen Allen where, once again, we had a group of singers. That makes the performances even more fun for Cathy and me!

Was supposed to return to Brighter Living in Hopewell on August the 13th, but once again, Covid got in the way and we have to reschedule when it’s safe again. Sure wish this pandemic would go away!

Yesterday, August 24th found us doing an outdoor performance at Beaufont Health and Rehab in Richmond, and that went surprisingly well even with the heat (over 90 degrees). On the 27th we will return to Beth Shalom at Parkside (rescheduled from July 29th), where we expect to see another lively, singing group.

Sure do hope September goes as well as the past three months. Only thing coming up so far is the American Legion Post 284 Riders Bike Festival on the 18th, and one inquiry about a health facility gig sometime in September.

Until then….!
